Morton Racing is a first class race horse training stable operating out of their base at Ascot in Western Australia. Our facilities include stabling for 40 horses at any one time and we have the luxury of having both stables, as well as day yards and nice trees to shelter those yards, keeping the horses relaxed and cool in those warm summer months.

We happily train for a large, diverse group of owners with some owners having 100% ownership of a horse, through to owners that may have just a 1% or 2% share, all of whom we regard as important parts of our stable.

Some owners buy their own horses or a number of them breed their own, and they seek out our services to train these horses for the already formed group of owner(s). These are the horses we often see for the first time when they walk into our yard, so it is always a nice surprise when a new horse turns up ready to start with us.

Outside of that, we generally like to buy up to around 20 yearlings per year and it has been through buying our own yearlings, we have had a considerable amount of success. Scenic Shot a $34,000 Perth yearling purchase returned his owners over $3 million in prize earnings in a career that spanned from a racing as a 2 year old through to his last race as a 9 year old in 2012. Scenic Blast took his owners on a worldwide tour after being purchased at the Perth sale for $85,000. He was crowned Australian Racehorse Of The Year, was a winner of Australia's most famous sprint the $1 million Group 1 Newmarket Handicap and won before Her Majesty the Queen, when winning at Group 1 level at Royal Ascot in England.

These yearling purchases are normally "specked" from the sales, and by that we mean we go there and buy the horses without owners in mind, simply put, we buy the horses we want to train. This method can be a bit nerve racking for us until we find owners to come in, but it allows us to buy nice horses and it is how we have had much success prior. We encourage anyone interested in being involved to make contact with us, as we will always find room to get you involved in a horse at whatever level you feel comfortable with – no matter what size share you are thinking, the thrill and excitement of race horse ownership can't be beaten!

From the time of purchase as a yearling, we manage the horse for the owners and keep them up to date with how he or she is via email or on the phone. For new groups of owners, many of whom may have never met prior, we get everyone together to enjoy working out a name for your new horse and of course we map out his or her career ensuring we get the best out of your horse for you. We see our job as twofold, ensuring we manage your horse so we achieve the best possible results on the racetrack for you and secondly, ensuring your whole ownership experience is one to enjoy and one to remember.
